The magical journey begins from the moment you step out of the lift with the infamous playing cards marching through the waiting area as you sip on peculiar cocktail concoctions labelled with ‘antidote to reality’, and that they were!
The venue’s renowned for its thrilling dinner show concepts with musical, acrobatic and dance performances, but the Alice show is like no other and transports you to mystical Wonderland.
The Act serves fine Peruvian cuisine with a touch of Japanese-infusion created by Chef Roberto Gonzales. Starters soon arrive, which include an assortment of sushi, succulent beef and moreish cheesy Yucca buns before the show commences.
An extraordinary experience from start to finish, each chapter of the classic tale is performed meticulously with close attention to detail, while also incorporating the audience so don’t be surprised when characters join you for dinner or you see the white rabbit dashing past.
Mains are equally impressive with rich, creamy mushroom ravioli for vegetarians, salads and flavoursome Seabream.
The evening continues with a flurry of madness and excitement with dessert being served in unforgettably theatrical form and more awe-inducing gymnastic and acrobatic performances until midnight.
Since that marvellous night in Wonderland – be prepared for feeling a little underwhelmed with the ‘real’ world after leaving – I’ve been desperate to return since and would recommend it to any adult looking for a delicious meal paired with a night of escapism.
If you want to go: Every Tuesday and Wednesday, starting at 8pm. Tickets are Dhs495 and include a three-course Peruvian set menu, house wines and soft drinks. Call 04-3551116.
