Homely, authentic and welcoming, The Dubliner’s at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre brings the spirit of a traditional Irish pub. Set in Garhoud, the space has a warm ambience, with comfortable seating, Irish-inspired touches and screens dotted throughout the venue showing sports of all kinds, from football and Formula 1 to cricket and tennis.
Come hungry and don’t make any plans afterwards. Between the hearty buffet, drinks and live music, this is the kind of Sunday roast worth settling in for.
Menu highlights
We started with a drink in hand before making our first lap of the buffet. The roasted lamb leg and beef were our first stop at the carving station, and we poured over a spoonful of gravy. The selection of non-halal meats followed, complete with crisp crackling, and we picked up some non-halal sausages wrapped in bacon. We also went back for the beef Wellington, its crisp, golden pastry giving way to tender beef at the centre, alongside the well-seasoned roast chicken, and fish and chips.
And let’s not forget the sprawling options for trimmings. The Yorkshire puddings were tall and hollow, perfect for soaking up gravy, while the Maris Piper roast potatoes had crisp edges and fluffy centres. Creamy mash sat beside cauliflower cheese, spinach gratin, braised red cabbage, and a baked brie that was impossible to resist.
For anyone looking to explore further, there’s plenty more to choose from, including a daily changing pie, pasta of the day, homemade soup, and a classic prawn cocktail. Alongside it all was the salad bar, while the cheeseboard featured orange cheddar, brie and mature Irish cheddar with grapes and olives, making for an ideal pause before dessert.
Desserts ranged from jam roly poly and chocolate tart to chocolate cake, mango mousse cake, bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce, and sticky toffee pudding drenched in caramel. We shared our way through several of them, with the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cake being our favourites.
A glass of grape kept things moving through the meal, and by the time the live music picked up, the room settled into a fun, laid-back Sunday afternoon atmosphere. Plates were being refilled, drinks were flowing, and guests were singing along with the band.
