After nearly 30 years on the Dubai food scene, French restaurant Le Classique is set to close later this month
One of the first-ever French restaurants to open in Dubai is set to close later this month. Le Classique, which opened at Dubai Golf Club in the 1980s will close its doors on 31st July, after serving Dubai diners for 29 years.
Before the restaurant finally closes its doors however, the culinary team are planning an incredible final send off for diners.
The restaurant will be running an “Au Revoir” menu throughout July, dedicated to chef François Porte, who opened Le Classique in 1988 and worked at the venue until his retirement in 2012.
Dishes on the special farewell menu will include:
·François-style foie gras poêlé, pineapple chutney and crispy quail or Vol au vent with wild mushroom and creamy snail
·François -style French onion soup
·Steak Diane prepared at the table with condiments
·François-style lobster thermidor
·Creamy risotto flavoured with pumpkin
·Gratinated goat’s cheese topped with tomato jam
·A ‘café gourmand’ of desserts and coffee including chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream, rraditional peach melba, François-style crepe suzette and strawberry mille feuille with green tea ice cream
The set menu will cost AED 275 per person, or AED 405 per person with house and select beverages.
Executive chef of Emirates Golf Club, Nicholas Cuomo said: “It has been a pleasure putting together the Au Revoir menu, which features some of Le Classique’s best loved dishes from the past 29 years and provides guests with the opportunity to enjoy a final memorable dining experience in a real Dubai institution.”
There is some good news however: Dubai Golf Club is planning to launch a new restaurant in the same spot later this year -watch this space for an update on the club’s new plans.
