Review: Jodhpur Bar & Kitchen

Marwari cuisine from Rajasthan remains one of India’s most distinctive food cultures, and Jodhpur Bar & Kitchen brings that heritage to Dubai. Located on the ground floor of Hyatt Place Dubai Jumeirah, the restaurant takes inspiration from Jodhpur’s Blue City, with arched details, deep-blue interiors, and thoughtful touches dotted throughout the space.

Once you find your seat, take a moment to wander and spot the royal ornaments, embroidered fabrics, and portraits of Jodhpur’s past royalty.

Menu highlights

The menu is a journey through Rajasthan’s royal culinary heritage, moving from lighter street-food-inspired plates to richly spiced mains, rooted in tradition yet presented with a contemporary edge.

We started with the Makhaniya Dahi Vada, lentil dumplings arriving in a pool of saffron yoghurt, soft and yielding against a sharp hit of house chutney. The Nagauri Methi Paneer Tikka followed, paneer marinated in fenugreek and finished with a punchy kachri chutney that cut cleanly through the richness. The Rajwadi Safed Maas was our favourite from the starters: delicate chicken slow-cooked in a cream and nut marinade in the tandoor.

For mains, the Sindhi Mutton is highly recommended. Slow-cooked in a Sindhi spice blend, the meat was deeply flavoured and falling off the bone. Tear into it with warm butter naan.

The Gulab Jamun ki Sabzi is worth singling out: gulab jamun in a delicately spiced saffron curry, finished with silver. It is an unlikely combination, yet the dumpling against the savoury curry is the kind of pairing you keep returning to. The Gatte ka Pulao offered a gentler counterpoint: fragrant rice cooked on dum with spiced gram flour dumplings

Dessert was the Thandai Rasmalai, showcasing soft ras malai that sits in a pool of golden saffron milk, scattered with pistachios, dried rose petals, and threads of saffron, and crowned with a delicate spun-sugar design. Rich, fragrant and a comforting note to finish on.
