This French brasserie taps into what many diners are seeking right now – somewhere that feels reassuringly familiar, where the experience is as dependable as the food. At the Grand Millennium outpost, the sprawling indoor-outdoor layout carries the charm of a neighbourhood brasserie that’s incredibly welcoming.
Service is attentive without being intrusive, striking that careful balance between efficiency and allowing guests to settle in at their own pace. Families, in particular, are thoughtfully catered to. Children are quickly set up with a colouring placemat and a spill-proof cup for drinks— small gestures, but telling ones.
Menu highlights
The menu leans into familiar French brasserie classics. The French onion soup is hearty, with caramelised onions and a generous layer of melted cheese that delivers exactly the comfort expected. Escargot remains a classic done right, tender and rich with garlic butter. The Chèvre chaud salad oozes texture with warm goat cheese croquettes, caramelised figs and crisp greens lifted by green apple and citrus, all tied together with a light honey-balsamic dressing.
Steak frites remains a perennial favourite at CQ, the cut cooked to a precise medium, the fries crisp, and signature sauce irresistibly moreish – every last drop swiped up with fries. The grilled French-sourced free-range chicken is notably juicy and paired with tagliatelle in forestière sauce – the mushrooms adding a nice bite. For something more indulgent, the gnocchi with shredded short rib and ricotta mousse leans into richness, while the linguini vongole offers clean, delicate flavours of garlic, chilli and anchovy.
Dessert had us passing on an all-time favourite, the warm Pain perdu, in favour of Le cookie skillet gourmand – a comforting chocolate chunk cookie by Butter bakery served with vanilla bean ice cream and fleur de sel.
