Carrefour launches a Ramadan donation campaign

Carrefour has partnered with Emirates Red Crescent to provide families across the UAE with boxes of essential food items during Ramadan

Carrefour has launched a nationwide donation campaign that invites shoppers to purchase boxes of essential Ramadan items, to provide for families in need during the holy month. In partnership with Emirates Red Crescent, the initiative encourages customers to purchase boxes worth Dhs50 or 100, online or in Carrefour stores across the UAE. You can either gift the box to family and loved ones, or have Carrefour do it via the charity.

Each box contains essential items such as sunflower oil, rice, sugar, juice and lentils. The boxes will be distributed weekly by Emirates Red Crescent to those most in need, to ensure they experience Ramadan without worrying about their next meal.

“Our collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent aligns with our approach to supporting people, especially during difficult times. This campaign aims to distribute the donated boxes on behalf of our customers for their convenience and peace of mind, while encouraging them to share in the generosity. We want the community to know that Carrefour is here for them and we hope we can help as many families as possible this Ramadan,” says Philippe Peguilhan, Country Manager at Carrefour UAE, Majid Al Futtaim Retail.

A portion of the Carrefour boxes will be also donated to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives to support its 10 million meals campaign, which provides meals to low-income families affected by the coronavirus pandemic this Ramadan.
