If you are going to spend serious money on cookware, you want to know whether it is worth it. HexClad’s hybrid cookware isn’t cheap, but it is built to last and created to do the work of several pans at once. We tested both the pan and saucepan across a range of everyday dishes to see how they perform for a home cook.
The global cookware brand, long favoured in Michelin-starred kitchens and endorsed by Gordon Ramsay, has launched its hybrid cookware range in the UAE. From individual pans and saucepans to sauté pans and specialty sets, the collection can be ordered online with free same-day delivery to Dubai and Abu Dhabi when placed before midday.
How does it work?
Stainless steel heats beautifully but sticks. Cast iron is tough but heavy. Traditional non-stick pans are easy to use but delicate and short-lived. HexClad’s patented hybrid design brings together the best of all three.
The secret lies in the surface. A laser-etched stainless steel hexagon pattern creates raised peaks across the pan, delivering exceptional searing power and even heat distribution. Between those peaks sit protected non-stick valleys, coated in a high-grade layer for effortless release. The result is a surface that sears like stainless steel and cleans like non-stick, at the same time.
Beneath the surface, triply construction combines a magnetic stainless steel base, an aluminium core and a stainless steel interior, heating quickly and evenly for excellent temperature control. The heavy-gauge build is built to last: metal utensils are safe to use, every pan is dishwasher-safe and oven-safe to 480ºC, and the stay-cool handle works across all hob types including induction. Each pan carries a lifetime warranty, backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.
HexClad’s latest cookware features its proprietary TerraBond ceramic non-stick coating, which is entirely free from PFAS, the synthetic chemicals found in many traditional non-stick surfaces. The result is a pan that performs at a high level while being safer for everyday cooking, without sacrificing the easy-release qualities home cooks rely on.
Before first use, make sure to season the pan by spreading a teaspoon of oil across the surface on medium-low heat for two to three minutes, and performance will continue to improve naturally with each use over time.
Our thoughts
Hybrid pan (30cm, AED769 including lid)
Sturdy and well-made, the pan is available in four sizes (20cm, 25cm, 30cm, and 35cm), and a matching lid can be purchased separately. It should only be used at low to medium temperatures, but heats up surprisingly quickly.
The handle stayed cool throughout testing, and omelettes slipped from the surface with ease. A noodle stir-fry simmered away without issue. The surface helped achieve a solid sear on steaks, and the curved sides kept ingredients contained while sautéing. Delicate crêpes and pancakes released cleanly without any additional oil or butter in the pan.
One thing to note: the stainless steel hexagons mean the pan does need to be properly preheated and used with a little oil; otherwise, ingredients such as fried eggs can catch. However, a small amount of oil resolved this immediately.
Cleaning is where the pan truly earns its place; a quick rinse with warm soapy water is all it takes.
Hybrid saucepan (2-litre, AED539)
The hybrid saucepan handles everyday cooking tasks without fuss. A béchamel sauce made from scratch came together well and cleaned up easily after a short soak in water.
Rice cooked evenly without catching at the base, and both lentil soup and a simmering tomato pasta sauce lifted cleanly from the surface after a short soak.
As with the frying pan, resisting the urge to turn up the heat pays off. Keeping it at a low to medium setting produces consistently better results and makes clean-up considerably easier.
Is HexClad worth it?
For those who cook regularly and want a pan that genuinely bridges the gap between professional performance and everyday convenience, HexClad makes a compelling case. Personally, it has become a firm fixture in my everyday cooking rotation, and one I find myself reaching for over other pans consistently.
