Review: Brasserie Boulud

The gastronomie française in its truest sense has been brought to Dubai by Brasserie Boulud. Located inside Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk, the restaurant offers French contemporary cuisine rooted in tradition, with fresh, in-season meals that are handcrafted to produce a truly authentic and appetizing experience

The restaurant was recently awarded a Bib Gourmand in the 2022 edition of the Michelin Guide Dubai, as well as earning a Chef’s Toque in the Gault&Millau UAE Guide 2022.

The Highlights:

The art deco design motif is visible as soon as soon as you enter Brasserie Boulud, where modern trends are paired with exquisite craftsmanship and luxurious materials. The mirrored ceiling is highlighted by contemporary chandeliers and the neutral colours of the space provide a subtle and laid-back dining environment.

Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud takes a classic approach to French cuisine, beginning with incredibly fresh homemade bread with butter and featuring renowned French dishes to start with such as the tender ‘escargots de Bourgogne’ with garlic & parsley butter, the exquisite ‘rillete de canard’, with pulled duck leg confit, somked duck breast, mustard dressing and pomegranate, and the flavourful ‘foie gras poêlé’ with pan seared foie gras, savoury apricot jam, pistachio and almond purée.

The marble-clad open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs at play, which adds a multisensory touch to the dining experience.

For mains, the menu features French specialties such as the succulent ‘tournedos de beef poêlé’ with pan seared black Angus tenderloin, spinach subric, local potato confit, glazed pearl onion and red grape sauce, and the divine and full of flavour ‘sole à la Polonaise’ with pan seared Dover sole, cauliflower pure, Romanesco almonds, capers and gremolata.

The desserts’ menu includes refined treats such as ‘le palet d’or with chocolate sable, dark chocolate cream and praline ice cream, ‘mille-feuilles aux fruits rouges’ with waffled caramelized puff pastry, vanilla cream, raspberry jam and fresh mixed berries, and ‘tarte tatin’ with traditional reversed apple tart, puff pastry and French double cream.

The verdict:

From the impeccable service to the brilliant food and relaxed atmosphere, Brasserie Boulud will make you want to come back for more.
