If you like a side of fine vistas while you dine on equally fine food, the 68th floor of the world’s tallest 5-star hotel is the place to be.
Prime68 at the JW Marriott Marquis in Business Bay is a new generation of steakhouse, where supreme quality ingredients are served in an elegant, modern style. A 2019 and 2018 winner of BBC Good Food ME Awards (Meat Restaurant – Dubai & Northern Emirates; and Best Fine Dining Brunch), Prime68 offers meat enthusiasts a spectacular, sophisticated feast above the clouds.
Friday lunch at Prime68 (or brunch) calls for free-flowing beverages alongside succulent steaks and scrumptious sides. We were instantaneously in awe of the views that surrounded us; and if heights are your thing, do make sure to request a table by the window while make your reservation.
We were greeted and seated as soon as we reached the steakhouse, a little after 1pm and were pleasantly surprised to see the brunch already well underway.
Known for a menu that features carefully-selected artisanal produce and only the best heritage-breed beef from farms around the world, we couldn’t wait to find out what Prime68 had in store for its Friday brunch.
In no time, our table was covered with a spread of sharing-style starters including warm, freshly-baked buttery bread, a Burrata with tomato and basil, Oysters Fine de Claire with Mignonette (an accompanying condiment with minced shallots, cracked pepper, and vinegar), Crab Cakes with Old Bay tartare, Beef Marmalade Sliders and a Chopped Salad with Bleu Cheese. Each one better than the last, like us, you might be tempted to order additional portions. Don’t. Well do of course, but remember there is more to come. A lot more. The crab cakes were soft, with a slight kick of spice; the beef buns came with a rich bite; and we just had to have a second serving of the salty-nutty oysters.
We took a moment to sit back with our welcoming sips, infused with ingredients such as passionfruit, guava syrup, elderflower, mixed berries and horseradish.
Mains followed in the form of a USDA Bone-In Rib Eye with a smoked peppercorn- béarnaise, Grilled Jumbo Prawns with garlic, herbs and chilli and Grape-Braised Short Ribs with celeriac slaw and chimichurri. We told you there was more. Accompanying sides included truffle mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, grilled greens and a simple mash. Each dish was generously portioned, perfectly cooked, rightly seasoned and sublime.
Dessert showed up next and although we were completely stuffed, we had to indulge. The final course included Truffle Gouda with Chutney; a decadent Chocolate Cherry Trifle with marinated cherries and a velvety-smooth chocolate cremeux; and a Strawberry Cheesecake which provided a classic end to a fabulous Friday afternoon.
Panoramic views of Dubai’s glittering skyline make Prime68 a memorable experience.
