Marmite & gooey cheese crumpet soldiers

Add a twist to a breakfast or teatime classic – toast Marmite, mozzarella and strong cheddar-topped crumpets and cut into strips, then dunk into a runny egg

  • 1 large egg
  • 30g strong grated cheddar
  • 30g grated mozzarella
  • 2 crumpets
  • 15g butter
  • 1-2 tsp Marmite


  1. Bring a small pan of water to a simmer, add the egg and cook for 5 mins. Meanwhile, combine the cheddar and mozzarella in a bowl. Toast the crumpets, spread with butter and Marmite. Top the crumpets with the cheese mix and grill for 30 seconds or until golden and bubbling. Cut into soldiers and serve with the egg.
