Ingredients
- 1 tbsp vegetable or sunflower oil
- 1 onion , finely chopped
- 2 carrots , finely chopped or coarsely grated
- 500g beef mince
- 2 garlic cloves , finely grated or crushed
- 2 tsp mixed dried herbs
- 2 tbsp tomato purée
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Marmite
- 500ml beef stock
- 200g frozen peas
Method
Heat the oil in a large, deep frying pan over a medium-low heat, and cook the onion and carrot for 10-12 mins until softened. Stir in the beef mince and cook for a further 6-8 mins until browned all over.
Add the garlic and mixed dried herbs, stir well, then cook for a couple of minutes before stirring in the tomato purée, Worcestershire sauce and Marmite. Cook for a couple of minutes.
Pour in the beef stock, then bring to a simmer and cook for 20-30 mins until the sauce has thickened. Scatter in the frozen peas and cook for 2-3 mins until the peas are tender.
