Golden syrup broccoli noodles

  • 1 nest of dried wholewheat noodles
  • a few stems long-stem broccoli
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • pinch of dried chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp golden syrup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ lime


  1. Bring a pan of salted water to the boil and cook the noodles following the packet instructions.

  2. Meanwhile, pan-fry the broccoli in a splash of sesame oil for a couple of minutes, then add the crushed garlic and chilli flakes. Fry for a further minute or two, then add the golden syrup, soy sauce, 1 tbsp of sesame oil, a squeeze of lime juice, some cracked black pepper, and a tbsp of the cooking water from the noodles. Simmer for a couple of minutes then drain the noodles, add them to the pan, stir and then serve.
