Spinneys launches The Chef’s Counter: A new way to shop local and support homegrown talent

In a powerful move to support the region’s independent dining scene, Spinneys has officially launched The Chef’s Counter

This new in-store community platform aims to spotlight homegrown chefs and food founders, providing them with the scale and reach of the Spinneys network at a time of need for the hospitality industry. The initiative kicks off on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, featuring the acclaimed Chef Kelvin Cheung of Jun’s Dubai.

The UAE’s independent restaurants are currently navigating a challenging landscape of rising operational costs. The Chef’s Counter is Spinneys’ direct response, a collaborative stage that unlocks new revenue streams and drives visibility for local culinary talent. By rotating a new chef or food founder into the spotlight every week, Spinneys offers its customers a front-row seat to the fresh concepts and diverse flavours that define the region’s evolving food culture.

For the opening week, Chef Kelvin brings the contemporary, bold flavours of Jun’s Dubai and 852 Bakery directly to select Spinneys locations. The curated menu focuses on elevated comfort, starting with the Kimchi-Crunch Salad, which features vibrant greens, tender chicken, and bacon topped with candied walnuts and a punchy dressing.

The menu also introduces the Notorious Sandwich, a playful, protein-packed creation served on a shio pan bagel. This buttery cross between a croissant and a bagel is stacked with smoked turkey, bacon, fried egg, scallion schmear, pickles, and melted cheese. To finish, the offering includes Chef Kelvin’s Famous Cookies: brown-butter chocolate-chip delights, crisp on the edges and soft in the middle, seasoned with a signature touch of Maldon salt.

By bringing the city’s favourite chefs directly to your local supermarket, Spinneys is making it easier than ever to support the independent businesses that make our food scene so special. It’s a chance for residents to support local talent and ensure these homegrown concepts continue to thrive.
