What’s it like: A perfect destination to visit while the weather is still cool; the beautiful Hakkasan terrace is idyllic and transports you to a quaint Japanese-like garden, with soft water features and large slate pathways – not forgetting the greenery, which is always a nice surprise in Dubai. We’re here to check out chef Andy’s latest menu, specifically designed for the outside terrace. Greeted by our extremely friendly waiter, we’re given a run down of the Cantonese menu to learn it’s made up of smaller portioned dishes, ideal for nibbling or sharing. To begin, we opt for the hakka steamed dum sum platter, which includes individual pieces filled with the likes of scallops, smoked wagyu and seabass, plus the five spice crab meat roll and crispy prawn fitters with truffle – the menu isn’t divided into starters and mains so we order a couple of dishes at a time, not to over do it, however, portions aren’t excessive so don’t worry. Next we tried chicken skewers in satay sauce, followed by my personal favourite of the evening, Jasmine tea smoked wagyu beef ribs, which were divine and melted in the mouth they came bite sized too, so there were no inconvenient sticky fingers to deal with. To finish up, we were pleased to find a cocktail list complementing the terrace menu, showcasing mixes such as the lychee martini and a plum sour. For a stylish evening out with friends, paired with sophisticated dining, this is a great one to try.
