Ingredients

  • small handful of cloves
  • 3 clementines
  • 1-2 small, thin holly branches (about 30cm long)
  • small bunch of rosemary
  • 6-7 whole walnuts
  • small handful of fresh bay leaves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tall, wide candle (25cm tall x 7.5cm diameter)
  • round wooden board or platter (about 25cm in diameter)
  • string or ribbon

Method

  1. Press the cloves into the clementines. You can do this in a pattern, if you like, or randomly.

  2. Put the candle in the centre of the platter or board (it should have plenty of room around it), then, wearing gloves, wrap the holly branches around the candle, and secure into a wreath using string or ribbon, if needed (smaller branches may not require this). Poke the rosemary sprigs in and around the holly branches, and arrange the whole walnuts, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, and clove-studded clementines around the wreath. Will stay fresh for up to four days. To prevent a fire hazard, swap the candle for a new one as it burns down so it does not come into contact with the holly wreath.
