Review: Seafood Market, Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre

Seafood Market has been a longstanding institution since 1992. Located within Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, the venue offers a tailored dining experience where you can choose your preferred produce, sauce and cooking method, from grilling and baking to other preparations.

To find the venue, arrive at the main hotel entrance, from where it’s a short walk outdoors before you find the Seafood Market tucked away in a space of its own. It’s a spacious setting, perfect for larger crowds to enjoy their dining experience without interruptions.

Make sure to take a walk through the aisle of the freshest catches of the day, where you’ll find crabs, lobsters, prawns, sea bream, hammour and a plethora of more to choose from.

Menu highlights

We started with the complimentary amuse-bouche: crispy Sesame Prawn Toast and Vegetable Spring Roll, which we were told is a favourite among diners. Both paired well with the Thai green chilli sauce, sweet and sour sauce and chilli garlic oil served at the table.

For starters, we chose the Spider Maki from the sushi bar, a combination of sushi rice, soft-shell crab and avocado. The Grilled Omani Jumbo Prawns came next, coated in a spicy chilli sauce that brought heat without overpowering the tender prawns. The perfectly cooked Salt & Pepper Calamari was crisp, lightly seasoned and easy to keep going back to.

Must-try dishes

Moving on to the mains, the Omani Lobster in lemon butter sauce was rich and buttery, with the lemon cutting through the sauce’s richness. One of my favourites, the Local Red Snapper Steamed in black bean sauce, had a rich, savoury flavour that complemented the tender fish well.

The Black Pepper Crab was another highlight, with the pepper adding a spicy edge to the crab meat. We enjoyed the mains with a side of garlic & egg fried rice and wok-fried vegetables and mushrooms in oyster sauce.

To end, we had homemade gelato. I went for the cheesecake flavour, which had the creamy, tangy flavour of cheesecake, with pieces of biscuit base mixed in, while my dining partner chose the black sesame gelato.
